when four brothers Maurice (trumpet and band leader)

from Mitchelstown, Co Cork
Prior to the showbands. most "bands"
in Ireland in the early 50's
were similar to the "big bands" of the 1940's
They had 10 to 14 musicians and all sat on
stage for the night and played their instruments
and read the music from the arrangment sheets
in front of them on music stands.
They were dressed in black suits and bow ties
and gleaming white shirts, very elegant!
Maurice Mulcahy Big Band The last of the big

to have many years of success
and continued well into the Showband years
They also made a few successful albums
