Before his death in 1987, he witnessed his son's rise to become
World Boxing Champion (Barry McGuigan),
He sang to another huge audience on the night of Barry’s victory
with an estimated televison audience of twenty million people watching worldwide.
 He led an emotional rendition of ‘Danny Boy’ before the fight.
