The Stylos Showband
were in full swing in the mid to late 1960s.in
Sligo, Mayo and Galway.
The lead guitar player was Francie Leneghan
Francie later played with a number of bands
including Frank Chisum’s (the well known Elvis
Impersonator from Tyrone),
He also played with The
Top7 Showband
Frankie Carroll
and the Ranchers and Ronnie Griffiths and American
Pie.
Francie Middleton played Trumpet with
the band. Later, Francie joined Dermot Hegarty
and the Plainsmen,
a band that enjoyed a lot of success in the
aftermath of Dermot’s chart topping “21 Years” song.
After that, Francie featured with Brian Harkin
who took over as lead singer with The
Plainsmen.
The drummer was Billy Kelly . He is now in
New York and still involved in the business over there.
Paul McManus played the Sax with the
band He later played with the Chessmen
The Rhythm Guitarist was Frank Clancy
He later played with Gerry and Ohio.
The singer was Liam Verdon. Aidan Kerins
played Bass Guitar.
He later joined Gary
Street and the Fairways.
