It was often claimed that Frankie McBride, formerly lead singer with the Polka Dots,
would have won a Jim Reeves sing-alike competition even if Reeves himself was taking part.

            This band was based in Monaghan and Tyrone.
                 Frankie had a very good reputation as a country and western singer.
                  He had two hit records in the U K charts.
                      Five Little Fingers. which reached the number three spot,
                   followed by another huge hit Burning Bridges.
